The current Server 2019 uses AvagoTech driver 6.706.6.0 for PERC 6i controller and I have tried to run in-place update and the message I get says for the AVAGO MegaRAID SAS Adapter "The device isn't compatible in Windows Server 2022. With all of the remote management tools available, there's very little reason to even run a full GUI Windows server anymore unless there is some kind of restriction in the software you're looking to host on it. The latest version of it will even update the OMSA packages.įor everything else, or older servers, I create a folder called Software on the root of the C: drive for my core servers (which is almost all of them) and copy any installers there using the admin share. While the R710 series are no longer supported, Dell offers a very good CLI tool for downloading and installing firmware and Drivers. Note, the server is used for test & lab, not production. Then also installation of OS is a real hassle. I have a R610 & R410 running Server 2019 but we changed the PERC RAID adapter as you may have issues finding drivers. Normally I would recommend not using Windows server "core" but with with GUI as it would be easier to manage and update drivers & firmware also.
